The Royal Ontario Museum has an almost identical table except for the legs and feet in their Canadiana department that is signed by Quebec City cabinetmaker I Myrand. See page 68 of The Book of Canadian Antiques by Donald Blake Webster. This mahogany sewing table probably came from the same shop. Having two drawers and two false drawers opposite facilitates a center of the room placing. Circa 1857. Price: inquire. |

The pulls on the drawers were not original and were removed. Originally the drawers were made to pull out by way of finger holes drilled into the bottom of the front of the drawers. See buffet and hutch below. |

Buffet with hutch is in excellent condition with porcelain pulls that are probably original. The yellowish finish is crackled and bubbled over elm as the primary and pine as the secondary wood. The beauty of the door panels and scrolling top of the hutch set this piece apart
from the average. Circa 1850. Price: $1450.00. |

Coming from a cottage on the Rideau this piece was made for a country kitchen or dining room.
The doors are pegged and the hand planing evident. The carved side supports and panelled drawers make this a special piece. The overpaint will be removed to reveal the first coat of paint, a warm and inviting yellow. This is probably French Canadian and Quebec of the early 19th century. Price: $2200. |
